During the annual inspection of the aircraft, substantial damage to the nose landing gear and firewall was discovered. The owner/pilot said that she did not know when, where or how the damage occurred.
On November 15, 1996, the Denver Field Office of the National Transportation Safety Board was notified by the owner/operator of N3293Y, a Cessna 182E, that substantial damage had been discovered while the airplane was undergoing an annual inspection. The nose landing gear and firewall were buckled. The pilot/owner stated she did not know when the damage occurred. The last flight occurred on November 12, 1996, during a cross country flight from Englewood, Colorado, to Alamosa, Colorado. The airplane is exclusively used by the pilot and her husband, who is also a pilot. The pilot stated in her written report that she did not know when, where, or how the damage occurred.
