DURING LANDING THE PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND RAN OFF THE RUNWAY AND DOWN A SLOPED AREA. AFTER IT LEFT THE RUNWAY THE AIRPLANE STRUCK A FENCE POST.
On March 8, 1993, at approximately 1000 central standard time (CST), a Piper PA 18, N8696D, was substantially damaged during landing at the Searcy County Airport, Marshall, Arkansas. The private pilot was not injured during the visual meteorological conditions flight from N. Little Rock, Arkansas. John Mistak is the registered owner. It was reported to the Federal Aviation Administration, Flight Standards District Office, that the airplane struck a tree after departing the runway following touchdown.
