According to the pilot, after touchdown on runway 34, during the roll out he was unable to maintain directional control of the airplane. The pilot applied the brakes and the airplane nosed down and flipped over inverted. The pilot did not report any flight control or mechanical anomalies prior to the accident. Examination of the airplane revealed the vertical stabilizer was buckled. Examination of airplane did not reveal any flight control or mechanical anomalies. On October 17, 2004, at 1415 eastern daylight time, a Luscombe LL-8, N1491K, registered to and operated by a private pilot flipped inverted during a landing roll on runway 34 at Pickens County Airport, Jasper, Georgia. The personal flight was conducted under the provisions of Title 14 CFR Part 91 with no flight plan filed. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
