Piper PA-28R-200
On February 13, 2008, at 1540 universal coordinated time, a Piper PA-28R-200, G-BKFZ, registered to a private owner collided with terrain in a wooded area near Rutland Water, United Kingdom. The airplane was destroyed and the private pilot was fatally injured. Reduced visibilities were reported in the area at the time of the accident. The flight originated from the Spanhoe Airstrip, an unlicensed airstrip, located south of Rutland Water and was destined for a private farm strip near Empingham, United Kingdom. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of the United Kingdom.
