Analysis

According to the pilot, he unintentionally landed the airplane with the gear retracted. He additionally reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation. A postaccident examination of the airplane revealed substantial damage to the wing.

Factual Information

The pilot reported that following a local area flight, he unintentionally landed the airplane with the gear retracted. According to the Federal Aviation Administration accident coordinator, the airplane sustained wing rib damage. The pilot reported no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

Probable Cause and Findings

The pilot's failure to extend the landing gear.
