On August 2, 2018, about 1930 UTC, a Piper PA-28-181 airplane, French registration F-GKEC, sustained a loss of engine power while on approach to the Lyon-Bron Airport (LFLY), near Décines, France. The two occupants onboard sustained no injury. The airplane sustained substantial damage during the forced landing. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the French government. This report is for information purposes only and contains only information released by or obtained from the French Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses (BEA) pour la sécurité de l'aviation civile. The NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the BEA investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 as the State of Manufacturer of the airframe and engine.
